Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government Scheme, which focuses on 5 basic controls. The 5 controls when implemented correctly will help to reduce the risk of a cyber-attack.

The 5 basic controls are:

  • Boundary Firewalls and Gateways
  • Secure Configuration
  • Access Controls
  • Malware Protection
  • Patch Management

Cyber Essentials is being used as requirement for Public Sector Tenders, MOD Contracts and increasingly seen on insurance forms. It demonstrates to your clients that you take cyber security seriously, the time to implement and understand the 5 basic measures. If your business has a turnover of less than £20 million, basic cyber insurance is included as part of the scheme.

It is recommended that Cyber Essentials is renewed annually to remain on the Certified Organisations Register and to keep the insurance in place.
